Craig McCabe, MD, PhD
Dr. McCabe specializes in State-of-the-Art “custom cataract surgery.” Employing wavefront technology, he selects the intraocular lens implant that is best for each patient's eye and specific vision needs resulting in sharper vision and greater satisfaction.
Dr. McCabe is a Board Certified ophthalmologist and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He earned both his doctorate of medicine and doctorate of philosophy in neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. McCabe completed his ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt University, where he now teaches as a Clinical Associate Professor.
Dr. McCabe started to serve our community in 2002 and has since founded McCabe Vision Center. He continues to remain active in ophthalmology research, publishing articles, and
lecturing on the latest advances in eye care.

Cool Springs Eyecare started as a practice in downtown Franklin on Main Street in 1976.  It moved into the Franklin City Hall Building in 1986 and ten years later moved to the Cool Springs area. In 2009, Dr. Kegarise expanded the practice to include more exam rooms and a larger optical. He moved just a few yards away from his location on Cool Springs Blvd to a space behind McAlisters Deli. Cool Springs Eyecare provides comprehensive eye exams and personalized health care for families in Franklin, Brentwood and Spring Hill. John E. Downing, MD is the Managing Partner for Downing-McPeak Vision Centers based in Bowling Green and Glasgow, KY. He has been a Visiting Surgeon with Project Orbis, International for the past twenty years, and has worked in about fifteen different countries, including four missions in China. His practice has participated in doing free cataract surgery through the Mission Cataract program since about 1995, providing free surgeries for patients who could not otherwise afford it. He has been on the Clinical Faculty at Vanderbilt for the past 38 years, where he is a Clinical Professor, and has received numerous teaching awards.
