Since graduation in 1983, Dr. Simon has kept current in all aspects of therapeutic optometry through continuing education. Because of his education, Dr. Simon understands all aspects of spectacle manufacturing and fits all types of contacts including the new bifocal types. He has a special interest in the reading problems of school age children and has used a home based computer program to remedy some deficiencies.
Deciding to settle in his wife's hometown of Franklin, Tennessee, Dr. Simon began his optometric career with Simon Vision Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the Optometric Director of a major LASIK eye center and also a presenter at the Wang Vision Center National Lasik Seminar in November of 2002. Dr. Simon has been practicing for over 20 years with the last 5 years in Murfreesboro. Dr. and Mrs. Simon have two sons James Robert, who has graduated with a degree in International Business and David who presently works for the Tennessean. Dr. Simon enjoys the martial arts and holds a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and was an assistant instructor for 5 years. Presently, Dr. Simon is studying Kung Fu San Soo. He also enjoys golfing and hiking. As a founding member of Congregation Micah in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Simon has taught Sunday School and been a youth advisor.
